Who it’s for
PrizeWave suits adults who like the idea of a cash prize landing every month and who want a simple membership rather than a ticket they have to remember to buy. It is open to residents of 48 states and DC, aged 18 or older in most of them. It also suits people who prefer to start for free: the rules give a mail-in route that costs only a stamp.
It is not for anyone in New York or Florida, which the rules exclude, and it is not a tool for people who want published odds before they play.
How it works
PrizeWave runs one draw a month, on the 20th. Each draw has one winner, chosen at random from every eligible entry received for that period, and the prize is $50,000 in cash. Entries from members and entries from free mail-in requests sit in the same pool, and each eligible entry has an equal chance of being selected.
Membership comes in three plans that we could see: Basic at $19.99 a month with 200 entries per draw, Premium at $29.99 with 400, and Advanced at $49.99 with 1,000. The rules describe the membership as a product bought for its member benefits, with the draw entries as a free bonus. PrizeWave also promotes a $50,000 cash draw on its own landing page, with a draw set for Tuesday 3 Nov 2026 at 6pm PT.
Odds and value
PrizeWave does not publish odds. The rules say the odds depend on the total number of eligible entries received for the draw, which is the honest answer for any sweepstakes, though it gives you nothing to calculate with. Take that as a gap, not a hidden trap.
What you can judge is value for money. Paying more buys more entries, but the rules state that a purchase does not increase your chances of winning, and entries are not a fee for a chance. The cleanest way to see the offer is the free route: one hand-printed mail-in request gives 200 entries, the same number a Basic member receives. That is a generous free entry, and it is the strongest point in PrizeWave’s favour. We scored odds and value 6 because the prize is a real $50,000 in cash every month, but the chance of winning is unknown.
Trust and regulation
The rules are detailed. They name how winners are chosen, set out the eligible states and ages, state that records are kept for 5 years, and give a fixed monthly schedule. Eligibility is 18 or older, or 19 in Alabama and Nebraska and 21 in Mississippi, with one account per person and bots barred. We scored transparency 7.
Two things keep it from higher. The rules do not publish odds, and the pages we checked do not include a registration and bonding statement of the kind some states require for larger prizes. That may be because New York and Florida, the best-known registration states, are excluded, but we cannot confirm it, so we say only that it is not stated.
Player protection scored 5. The age limits, the one-account rule and the cancel-any-time membership are all there, but we found no spending limits, self-exclusion tool or helpline. If you play, set your own monthly budget, and remember that 1-800-GAMBLER is available for anyone struggling.
PrizeWave is not a lottery with a state regulator. Its terms say prices are in US dollars and that memberships renew automatically until you cancel. We found no regulatory action against it, and we gave reputation the standard 7.
Claiming prizes and taxes
The rules set a clear timeline. The winner is contacted by email and telephone within 48 hours after the draw, has 7 days to respond, and has 14 days to return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release and, where lawful, a publicity release, with proof of identity, age and residence. The prize is paid in US dollars by bank transfer or check within 30 days after verification.
Taxes fall on the winner. The sponsor issues an IRS Form 1099-MISC and needs a Social Security or taxpayer ID number before paying. The rules also let the sponsor use a winner’s name, city and state for publicity where the law allows, so complete anonymity is not on offer. The name of a monthly winner is available by mailing a stamped, self-addressed envelope. We scored payouts and claims 6: payment is by a stated method and timeline, but the response windows are short.
Entering
There are two routes. The online route is a membership, bought on prizewaveus.com. The terms say you can cancel any time from your account dashboard or by email, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, so your benefits and entries continue until then. That is a clean, honest cancellation policy.
The free route is by mail. Hand-print a card with your name, address, email, telephone number and date of birth, and send it in a stamped envelope. The request must be received by the 15th, or it goes into the following month’s draw. The limit is one request per person per draw period, and photocopied, typed or bulk requests are void. Mail is slower than a click, but it is real, and it puts you in the same draw as a paying member.
The rules also cover other promotions, including an instant draw and Mystery Boxes, each with its own free mail-in route. They are outside this review.
Our take
PrizeWave does the important things well. It offers a free way in, a monthly cash prize, a draw you can count on, and a membership that you can cancel without a fight. The rules are easy to read and give a payout timeline. Its weaknesses are the ones we would flag anywhere: no published odds, no visible play-limit tools, no coverage of New York or Florida, and a tax bill that lands on the winner. If you enter, try the free route first, treat a membership as a monthly entertainment cost rather than an investment, and cancel the month you stop enjoying it.
